From there, we help shape the concept into something that works as a tattoo rather than simply copying an image onto the body. Whether you are planning a small fineline piece, a full sleeve, a portrait, or a bold color tattoo, the goal is the same: make something you will still be glad to wear years from now.
We work with first-time clients, longtime collectors, and people returning to tattooing after a long break. You do not need to arrive knowing every technical detail. Bring the idea as clearly as you can, and we will talk through what is practical, what may need adjusting, and what approach best fits the design. Our studio culture is friendly, direct, and low-pressure. We would rather explain an option carefully than rush you into a decision.

RIDGEWOOD TATTOO was founded by tattoo artist Mara Delgado after years of working around New York and seeing how different a tattoo appointment could feel depending on the studio. Some shops had incredible artists but felt intimidating. Others were welcoming but treated design choices too casually. Mara wanted a place that took both sides seriously: strong technical work and an environment where clients could ask questions without feeling like they were wasting anyone's time.
Mara grew up moving between Queens and Brooklyn with family spread across both boroughs, and Ridgewood always felt like a natural meeting point. She opened RIDGEWOOD TATTOO with the idea that a neighborhood shop can still be highly individual. The studio is not built around one house style. Instead, the team focuses on understanding what each client wants, choosing the right artist or approach, and being candid when a design needs more room, different placement, stronger contrast, or another adjustment to tattoo well.

Clear advice before the appointment
We talk through size, placement, style, and reference material before the work begins. If something is likely to heal poorly or lose clarity over time, we explain why and suggest a stronger option.
Designs made for skin
A strong drawing is not automatically a strong tattoo. We consider line weight, contrast, available space, movement, and how the design will sit on the body.
A calm studio experience
We keep the atmosphere friendly and straightforward. First tattoo or twentieth, you should feel comfortable asking practical questions.
No pressure to overcomplicate
Some ideas need more detail. Others get better when they are simplified. We recommend what serves the tattoo rather than adding elements just to make a project larger.

Eat a normal meal, stay hydrated, and arrive rested. Wear clothing that makes the tattoo area easy to reach, and avoid arriving with irritated or sunburned skin.
Can you help if I only have a rough tattoo idea?
Yes. A theme, a few references, a placement idea, or even a description of the feeling you want is enough to start a conversation. We can help turn that into a design direction that works on the body.
How much will my tattoo cost?
Cost depends on size, placement, detail, style, and the amount of time the piece requires. Larger projects may be completed over multiple sessions, so we prefer to review the idea before giving a useful estimate.
Do you tattoo first-time clients?
Absolutely. We explain the process, preparation, placement considerations, and aftercare in plain language. You are welcome to ask questions before deciding how you want to move forward.
Can I book a larger tattoo in stages?
Yes. Sleeves, large color pieces, portraits with surrounding elements, and other substantial projects are often easier to plan as a series of sessions. We can map out the general sequence before the first session.
